Choosing a good nickname
Sunday, June 13th, 2010Contents
First, you need to understand that your nickname is not just a nickname. It is your brand.
When people mention nicknames like Violet or Gisele (review), everybody knows to who belong these nicknames. And it is not just because they know how to promote themselves. Girls like BENEA or NIVEA never promoted themselves and people know them pretty well. It is because their nicknames are unique and easy to remember.
My opinion as customer
As customer, I prefer girls with nicknames that sounds like a normal name, normally composed by two names. Examples: Diamond James, Frankie Chemical, Natalie Nice… The reason I like this kind of nickname is because they seems more personal.
Nicknames that use too many words or have numbers or keywords, normally don’t attract me much. Here is a surreal example: 00000000000028. This nickname really exists on LiveJasmin. If you search for “0000” on LiveJasmin you will find more strange nicknames.
Using nasty keywords (bad)
I don’t like it. Nicknames like BoobsBombsX or Pussyberry are not my favorites. Also, I learned, and I’m sure that many other guys have realized it too, that girls who have skills (anal, fisting, squirting…) as part of their nicknames, normally don’t perform it in privates for real.
If you decide to use a keyword, make sure that the keyword reflects what you do in private.
Using numbers (bad)
They look terrible. Seems that the girl hadn’t any other idea and as someone else had already got that nickname, she just added a number to the nickname.
Not to mention those nicknames that start with a number so the girl can be listed first when members browser nicknames alpha. Even worse are those that are only numbers. Like on the example I gave above.
Using the year when you started camming (bad)
I still wonder what made ShyTeenn to remove the “2009″ from her original nickname. She told me that she didn’t like the number. But maybe it was also because having 2009 on her nickname would mark the year that she started camming. Remember that many guys look for new models.
Using your location (maybe)
I don’t like much, but they might work if you combine with a good word. British Brooke, for example, is a good one. Jayde19uk, is not too good. This nickname not only marks where the girl is from, but also her age, which is something that will change for sure. But both will easily attract people looking for British girls.
If you decide to use a nickname like that, it is better you be ready to present yourself as a girl from that place. Don’t put “British” or “UK” on your nickname if you barely speak English or if your accent does not sound British.
Using normal names (good)
My favorite, even if it is not your real name or if it is mixed with a “fancy” word. Gisele, who was Love Gisele, then changed to Got Gisele, has a good name. Amber Cutie merged a real name with a fancy word and the result was a cool nickname. They are also easy to remember.
Using words that resemble luxury or class (good)
Those are very good too. Makes the people feel that they are interacting with a classy lady. Diamond James or Violet (also know as viorotica, a good agglutination of the words Violet and Erotica).
Using something unique (excellent)
Having an unique nickname is the best way to create your own brand name. Imagine if a company decides to build a car and call it Fettati (as Ferrari wouldn’t be allowed). People would think that it is a cheap copy of the original.
I have a database of the nicknames used on 13 different webcam sites in the past 6 months. I developed a script to gather the most common words used on the 31902 nicknames. Here is the top 20:
- Hot 1199
- Sexy 1023
- Sweet 666
- Girl 535
- Love 478
- 69 (the number) 479
- Sex 387
- Angel 378
- Lady 354
- Doll 275
- Wild 252
- Miss 243
- Horny 234
- XXX 231
- Baby 214
- Blonde 191
- Nasty 182
- Dream 171
- Cute 167
- Pussy 158
Now you can have an idea what words you should avoid if you want to have an unique nickname.
Have you notice how many times nasty words are used? That’s why I advise you to keep away from it. And as an extra info, 4104 nicknames use numbers.
But the most important thing is who build the nickname and the fame around it. YOU and your behaviour either in free as in private.
Notes
- Sites analised: CamContacts, Cams.com, CamSpot, CamWithHer, ExtasyCams, Flirt 4 Free, LivePimpin, NeonCams, OnHerCam, PeekShows, Private Feeds, WebCamClub and XLoveCam
- Nicknames shortest than 3 characters were not considered
- Male nicknames were not considered
- The database is part of a project I’m developing and it is not available for public yet. Webcam sites that want to be on my database will have to provide a decent API or XML feed so I can gather the data.
